question

How can you get around the 96-98% problem with CDRwin? I've tried what was in previous posts, but failed. Help would be appreciated.

You should explain your problem better. What is 96-98% problem?

If you cannot make an image file due to errors - don't bother!
The source disc is too damaged.
If you have also set 'error recovery' to anything other than 'Abort' you are also wasting your time.

the 96-98%problem is when an illegal action happens when it reaches that point

If you set error recovery to anything other than 'abort' you can be assured that your copy will NOT be as original.
Why copy errors when you need a good copy from a good source cd?
There are NO PSX games that have deliberate errors on the cd.

I always set Error Recovery set to Ignore because Playstation games have deliberate bad blocks of information on them to make them harder to copy.

mouse - CRAP!
ANY read error signifies a bad cd!
Like I said before NO PSX game has deliberate bad sectors.

i think u will find that the whole psx cd anti-copy protection is based upon the use of bad sectors (The psx boot up procedure looks for bad blocks at certain locations on the CD) and the fact that standard cd copying software will try and correct these bad sectors to what it thinks they should be, like i said i have error recovery set to ignore and have never had any problems, cdrwin will tell u if there are any bad sectors if set to ignore anyway so u can abort if u choose, i have copied games that have come up with bas sectors and have not had problems playing them.

mouse - do I have to repeat myself?
Have set to 'abort', it only EVER 'aborts' with a BAD source disc!
