help needed cracking psx 1 game codes!

Having just bought a cd-rw I would like information on how to create backup copies of psx games,I've managed to copy audio without any problems but cannot get games to work. I've heard that you need to crack the codes before it will work properly.
However can somebody explain to me how I go about cracking these codes and how to succesfully create copies. Dop I need certain software etc. My cd-rw is a samsung 204 if that makes any difference to what I'm trying to do. Many thanks to anybody who can help.
