Swap trick on Patched Games

I recently burned a copy of Tony Hawk 2(ntsc)
and applied the PPF patch to it. I realized that the PSX bootup screen has been modified(2nd black scrn). For some reason it doesn't load the same as non patched and original games, and the swap trick can't be pulled off. Does anyone know of a way to swap with these type of patched games?
