turn on the psx, and hold down the reset switch for 6 or 7 seconds. that'll shut down the stealth IV mod chip.

I know that but theres two probs with that. 1 I have a 4 wire chip not the Stealth. 2. If you press reset not only will the game restart but it won't play because the chip is off. I'm looking for the instructions to build a switch so I could have it on when the game boots up and then I could turn it off so it doesn't get detected. Thx for your help anyways.

hey!! i wrote that about the internal switched mod chip!. i am the creator. just hook up a minuature continuos tago switch to the power wire on the mod chip (i think most any pin will do tho), just break one of the wires, add extensions, and then send the wires out thru the little vents on the side of your psx, and attatch them to the tago switch. on and off like a light.

Jeex is right, what you require is a DPST (Double Pole Single Throw) toggle switch. Cut the wires to pins 1 and 8 of the mod chip and put the switch in line, this will completly isolate the power to the mod chip doing exactly what you want to do.

Just to add to spookys solution, you need only cut EITHER the wire at pin 1 OR at pin 8 as these are the wires that power the chip (1=V+) (8=V-), then put the switch in between the two pieces of the wire you have cut.
As I have tried to demonstrate below !!!!!

\
to pin<_______|---|______>to spot on PCB
switch

Thank you

nah. i dont think it will. the only reason i really have it on there is to play originals with mod detection (if the need ever arises). anyhow.. i have another post in this message forum called "challenge me ---", it has the solution on getting past the "crash bash" mod detection.
