Create an ISO image from a CD/DVD
What program can I use to make an Image of a CD or a DVD?
I searched for some on the internet but all the ones i came up with only have a free trial and require me to purchase. Any free options available to me or do i have to buy something? |

Do you got "Nero 7 Essentials" together with your DVD-Writer?

yeh, usually some burners come with stuff like nero... especially oem ones
however, if you're going to attempt to make an image of a protected cd/dvd then you'll need to use alcohol etc.. 120% version is trial (30 days if i remember right) and 52% version was released for free a while ago...

thanks for the prompt replies.
I was infact looking to make an image of a protected disk. I was trying to use Nero but it crapped out on that request. I'll try alcohol 120 and see if it fits the bill. Cheers |

if you read the faq you'd probably have realised that nero is not up to the task of making images of protected disks...

If a person used a program such as AnyDVD along with Nero would that work? Or is that a totally different type of copy protection that AnyDVD will fix?

AnyDVD removes the CSS an other popular copy protections from movie DVD's (on the fly) because those are known and/or relatively simple methods. But it cannot remove the very sophisticated and sometimes custom copy protections of games.
Also, the CSS copy protection of movies is the same for all DVD's, as it is a standard, and the CSS decryption is built into all DVD drivers. On the other hand, the decryption of encrypted game files is built into the main game executable and is different for all games - and often even for different versions of the same game.
