PS2--WHAT IS NEEDED TO DO BACKUPS ???????????

Can anyone please help, I would like to know what is needed to make PS2 backups e.g. Certain type of CDWRITER? Normal CD's ? What about ModChip? In other words is it the same process as the PSX or is it more complex? THANKS TO ALL REPLYS.
