How to Patch

Hi, I'm trying to install a patch for Rome Total War, but I have no clue how to do so. I would really like to install it, but I need some help. If anyone can help me out it would be great. From what I can tell, I need the 1.0 or 1.1 patch and then I need the cheat patch. Once I download them, I'm lost as to what to do.

Any help would be great. Thanks.

Uhm, read the documentation included? Anyway, start the EXE, read its prompts carefully and act accordingly. If it doesn't work, tell us what you did and what happenned; if you received error messages, quote them fully. Have you asked a computer-literate person around you; have you contacted the publisher?

This is the thread where I found it at. I'll post what he says.

"I now give you the Cheat unlocker patch.

this removes the once per game run limit aswell as unlocking the "restricted cheats" that are in Rome but disabled,

The patch requires the .NET runtimes, if you dont have them you will need to get them from windowsupdate.microsoft.com

Unfortunately the patch will only work on the NO-CD version of the game, i leave it up to the enterprising reader to work out how to get that, i wont give out any links and i certainly wont send the file, so there is no good PM'ing me.

The patch will only work if you have the correct version of the executable, it supports version 1.0 and 1.1.

Note: I do not condone piracy and i dont agree with it, this patch will on no grounds allow you to get around the copy protection on Rome: Total War, what it will do is patch the already cracked version, once again you will have to find that for yourself."


So I go to get the no cd version like it says. It says to have the official 1.1 patch, so I get that.

Here are the instructions * Install the game - Full Installation.
* Apply the official Rome Total War v1.1 Patch.
* Replace the original ROMETW.EXE file with the one from the File Archive.
* Play the Game!

How do I replace the original ROMETW.EXE file with the one from the file archive?

I extracted the file and when I click on the rome logo I get the message "The procedure entry point_AIL_init_3D_sample_handle@12 could not be located in the dynamic link library mss32.dll.

After that I don't know what to do.

The PC Games forum FAQ has been updated last night with the usual procedure of installing cracks: replacing the game's main executable with the one in the crack archive.
