PSX Modchips and patches

I'm kind of new to making backups for my psx games. So i was wondering, If I have a modchip on my Playstation will I still need to get patches for my backups?

Cause I've seen people talk about games that are protected. Does the modchip get rid of that protection or will I need to get a patch for the game to get rid of the protection?

Yes, it looks like it. I am still trying to figure out how to use the patches.

If you have a modchip installed on your playstation, you do not need to patch (most) games, you can simply copy them and insert the copy into your playstation and it will work correctly. Unfortunately, newer games have modchip detectors written into them, and the game will halt if it detects a modchip in your playstation (even the original licensed copy with halt your playstation if it finds a modchip)... if this occurs, you must find a patch for the game.

I have never patched a game, and don't know of any patch websites. If anyone knows of some, let me know via email or something.

for most of your games you will not need a patch. there are some of the newer games that still will require a patch. but not to worry there are many sites were you can get the patchs(www.megagames.com) and they are easy to install.
