Watching Vid's on the 360.

i recently hooked my PC up to the XBOX360 and i can see that you can only play music and watch your pictures, has any body got a clue on how to watch movies from the HD on the PC.

Thanks, Chris.

I think you have to use Windows Media Center.

Its a version of windows thats is built on WinXP but looks and feels different. Its also designed for media use.

Microsofts offical page here:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/m...r/default.mspx

However I would recommend sticking with regular XP from my experience as I have never been a fan of Media Center.

Windows MC is basically XP pro without remote desktop (like home), and may require a little more work to join a domain (only bussiness really need this). Obviously, it also has that GUI option people usually recognize from the images of MCE.

XP:MCE is the same price as XP:Pro.

listen guys i do this all the time and it can be a little difficult but easily resolved, if u need help pm me

i have to 360s hooked up to 2 pcs, both using mce.

make when u install mce u do the update and make sure u dloaded the full not the lite mce conection software, its about 80 meg,
and also use the y button on the 360 controller for a new connection. also to rule out any problems with the router check ur nat on the 360 says open and not strict...

oh yeah to watch xvid movies divx etc on the 360 u need a program called transcode 360, u can dload it free, this is best used with the media remote as it has extra buttons on it which u need for transcode.

when done all is worth it, just make sure u have a few gig of free space on whichever drive u use as the transcode buffer as it is very hungry for space.....
