Playing Titan Quest with CureRom, my hero suddenly had a huge grey beard , looked hillarious .
I tried the v1.15 crack, which by the way worked perfectly without crashing for hours, and the beard was gone

Got a problem with the GCW Mulit-patch 1.15: game starts, but in english, even though I installed the german version. Is there a patch for german around?
Tried to play the game using Virtual CD 8 (somebody wrote it works without any problems), but it keeps telling me to put the original cd in the player ... any workaround for vcd there without dt and securom loader?

v1.20 works with mini-image

The just released Titan Quest v1.20 works with Daemon Tools v403HE, mini-image[Benders], and AlkiSecurom v1.0 as per a prior post.
Here's the steps:
1) If you want to use a saved game, go into your registry and copy the CD-Key you entered. It will be under THQ.
2) Uninstall Titan Quest.
3) Install Daemon Tools v403HE.
4) Install Titan Quest using an ISO, Daemon Tools and your CD Key.
5) Update with v1.20. Just put the update in your THQ folder and run it.
6) Unmount your Titan Quest ISO and mount Bender's mini-image in Daemon Tools. I turned all emulations off and did not exit Daemon Tools.
7) Run alkiSecurom v1.0 and point it to your Titan Quest Executable file in the THQ folder.
8) You will be asked to put your Titan Quest original disk in the CD tray, which surprised me. I just used a copy and everything worked okay.

I started the game and my previous saved games were all there. I loaded all of them and played awhile and was able to transport all over. Everything seems to be just fine. Hope this information helps others out there. I also hope that I have not said anything in my post that I am not supposed to.

Thanks to all of the previous posters. Your advice worked for me.

1.20 update apparently has no protection, so using alkirom etc.. is pointless.. try scanning the updated executable with pid and report back please..

i read theres no securom on it, but a cdcheck still remains....

install new 1.20 patch and play, no curerom or securom loader needed, just use a backup iso image from your original dvd or cds.

patch 1.20 removes securom, only cdcheck is there. just create an iso image of your original dvd and mount it to daemon tools or any other viltual drive, and play.

About time pubs/devs woke up and got rid of the protection, now we'll know if it was the securom or crappy coding that was causing problems

If you want to make a NoDVD for the v1.20 patch, just Hex Edit the following byte in the Titan Quest.exe:

Offset 0x000089A7 change byte 74 to EB

Alternatively, search for byte pattern 74 7F FF and change the first byte to EB so it reads EB 7F FF!

I can't start the game because of the engine.dll.

It also happens with the original.
Does anybody know a solution??

P.S.: I know this isn't a backup-problem

patch the PROC not the conditional, it might be called somewhere else later on, and you'll have missed it...

[whispers]Don't know how to do that[/whispers]

We are talking 'me' here you know, not some uber cracker I'm not a proper reverser you know, just a 'conditional' one

If it doesn't work i'm sure someone will pipe up, I've been playing for 4 hours now from thes start and no problems yet, no crashes or weird things happening. Time will tell though!

What TippeX is saying that, instead of changing the call to the CD check:
Code:
call CDCheck
test eax, eax
jne OK => jmp OK
notOK:
[...]
destroy the CD check by making it always return a TRUE value:
Code:
CDCheck:
[...]
=>
xor eax, eax
inc eax
retn
or something similar. This way, all calls to CDCheck will get a TRUE value, not only those calls that you actually found. Good luck!

I understood what he meant, not how to do it Joe

I found the place where it does the usual GetDriveTypeA checks etc, except there is nothing calling this routine, so couldn't find where it was being referenced from, that's where I got stuck with that! I also had to use IDA, instead of lame but friendly w32dasm as it kept crashing it when loading the exe in, obviously some anti-disasm tricks!

In the end I patched the message as a last resort, it worked, but as TippeX says, for how long?

That is a meaningless error message. Send it to the publisher; I'm sure they'll just LOVE it!
