PS2 ver5 and ver7.....
i have a ver7(39001) PS2. i am having issues with it. Is the ver5 PS2 have the same internal parts so i could swap parts as needed?

V5s commonly use the 'open face' Type-R Sanyo laser unit, as do many V7s. Providing the laser units are the same, go ahead and just do a straight swap.
However, if they aren't identical, you'll need to put a modchip onto the v5 board, and then run the PS2 Laser Changer Utility (Cant remember the exact name) in order to get the board to accept your laser type. Hope that helps... LUFCfan

first i was gonna swap over the Ver5 DVDdrive to my ver7 to see if that books up the game. If not then i was gonna remove the modchip and install it on the ver5 model.
