Legend of Dragoon Problems

Ok, First off this has almsot nothing to do with "how do i bypass the anti-modchip thing" i own the original of the game. Problem is my seciond disc has gone bad, but in a strange way. This is the second time this has happened first time Is ent the disc to Sony and they "never got it" so it was "lost in the mail" sure.... anyways, after the fight with Regola dn the girl enemy Dragoon(can't remember her name) i get my expierence and such, but then black screen. I have tried on many PS2s and 1 PSX(modded but withi the chip turned off)

So does anybody have any ideas how to possibly use Alcohol or Nero or soemthing to read the disc for errors and possibly get an image with it repaired then i burn it and use gameshark to bypass the mod-chip thing. I have a GS lite if that will work.
