Titan Quest (Use this thread only! Do not start another Thread!)

Here is what has worked for me--both with the release version and the patched version (v1.08).

*Programs used:

A120% v1.9.5.3823
DT v4.03
CureROM v2.0.3

This is what I did. I loaded Bender's mini-image into the one virtual drive I have acticated thru DaemonTools v4.03.

I used CureROM v2.0.3 to set a profile and launched the game using the desktop shortcut CureROM created for me. When I made the profile, I didn't click on any special settings. I just followed directions to link CureROM to the .exe file, emulation software being used, etc.

The game booted up just fine w/o any messages about detecing emulation software.

Interestingly, when I ran the game in this way (using the original .exe but using the mini-image using DT v4.03), the game didn't crash at the first cave (it used to crash when I used the no-cd file by Reloaded).

Even after the patch update, this method of starting the game continued to work.

To get the best results do this when using the reloaded crack:
Install crack (doh)
set it in Win98 compatibility mode, that will stop a lot of game related crashing for some reason..

Just been watching the thread for quite a while and i've been doing just that, getting the latest cracked exe for the update version of titan quest (after applying the update, of course) and well, it's working but after like 5 minutes, every 10 secondes i got a 4 secondes lag which is extremly annoying. I've tested the resolution/details/etc and nothing fix that and i don't have that strange lag with the other cracks/mini image but instead i have that annoying crash every 5minutes or so. Ah well

PS: Oh yeah, before ending my small post, i wanted to say a big thanks to every persons posting in the thread for every tips and hints.

i make new char, it makes new folder the old folder with old char. is still there and i cant load it, any ideas?

Do you have several copies of the game and used a different CD-key for some reason? Characters only work with one key, so if you change, you can't see the character unless you reinstall with the same key you had when you made the characters.

LOL! maybe i change it with friends one. (2 computers on 1 table = mess)

Well, part of the EULA may call your attention to the fact that characters are bound to your personal copy, via the CD key... (Does it?) Still, I find that immoral, unless the publisher had a very good, objective (!) reason to do so!

No, discussion of CD-keys is not allowed. However, I don't think why circumvention of this idiotic bound between characters and CD-keys shouldn't be either...

I posted a method I used earlier to get TQ to work with the new v1.08 patch. Later on, however, the game began to crash again. So I switched to the original DVD and the game still crashed.

After some troubleshooting, I found the reason. For me, it wasn't the problem with the emulation program but rather my aging GeForce 6800GT. For some reason, TQ really taxes the GPU--even with my watercooling setup. So, when I downclocked my card's speed to its original 375MHz speed for the core from its BIOS-flashed 420MHz(but kept the memory at 1100MHz), the game stop crashing.

I guess with the summer heat (California), TQ was causing the GPU to get too heavy and hot. =P
