1. You must have Windows XP with SP2 in order of playing xxxxxxx!?
2. IDE PCI Controller Drivers MUST be OS STANDARD IDE PCI Drivers!?
3. Unpack file sfcure01 that's in tools.rar and launch file !setup.bat
through MS-Dos Prompt and reboot your box.
4. If u have AMD64, then use sfcure_x64 that works same way as the other.
5. Check if all option of Daemon or Alcohol are activated especially
RMPS option.
6. Mount Alcohol 120% img and install the game.
7. Once installation is complete, launch sfdrup.exe to update
StarForce3 drivers and reboot the box.
8. Launch through MS-Dos Prompt the file !start.bat that's in the
unpacked file sfcure01.
9. Unpack file sfn.rar e launch sfn.exe (StarForce Nightmare 1.12)
10 Select in this order "Disable node" , "Disable CD" , "Disable node" , and
the IDE channel you use for real CD/DVD units (Pr. Slave , Sc. Master o
Sc. Slave ) , depending on how your IDE units are connected
11. Launch the game.
12. Play.

Try this if above fails, you must have gone through step 1 to 9 first:

Do it in this order:
1. First of all, mount the image with Alcohol 120%

2. Run StarF..k and select StarForce x.x.x.x and then disable CD Roms
(keep the program running)

3. Then run SFNightmare, disable CD, disable Node, disable Channel
(keep the program running)

Run game, if it doesn't work try with SFN again (No need to restart SFN) Maybe change disabling order.

GL!
Been using this forums for awhile now, thanks to all of you who take the time to put up constructive help and info, great for those of us who are poor or just plain tight and who still want to game!!!
Please Schhh, or anybody that knows, how do I find out how my IDE channel for my CD/DVD unit is connected? Am I showing my ignorance or what!!!!
"Thank-You in advance" as they say.

Go to Control Panel, then System. In the Hardware tab, there's a button for the Device Manager. In the Device Manager, there should be a line something like "IDE ATA/ATAPI-controllers, with "Primary IDE Channel" and "Secondary IDE Channel" under it (when you click on the + sign). Now for both of those, you can doubleclick on them and it should give a dialog which contains an "Advanced Settings" tab, so choose that. You'll get an overview for device 0 and device 1, these are Master and Slave on that particular channel. The easiest way to look for the optical drives is to check the Current Transfer Rate. The optical drives are almost always Ultra DMA Mode 2 or PIO while the hard drives are Ultra DMA Mode 5 or 6.

Plug your CD-DVD drive(s) to a different IDE channel (secondary IDE channel) than your hard disk(s) (primary IDE channel) and then you won't have problems with even disabling the whole secondary IDE channel.

With the PC hardware architecture and Windows on top of it, sorry, you always have to be worried about something...

i think my problem is this
10 Select in this order "Disable node" , "Disable CD" , "Disable node" , and
the IDE channel you use for real CD/DVD units (Pr. Slave , Sc. Master o
Sc. Slave ) , depending on how your IDE units are connected

question 1 what does that 'o' mean? or?
question 2 how can i see how my IDE units are connected?
question 3 what are IDE units?

I found this on the internet, its a bit different, maybe it will help

1. You must have Windows XP with SP2 in order of playing gt legends

2. IDE PCI Controller Drivers MUST be OS STANDARD IDE PCI Drivers.

RMPS option
.
6. Mount Alcohol 120% img and install the game.

7. Once installation is complete, launch sfdrup.exe to update StarForce3
drivers and reboot the box.

8. Launch through MS-Dos Prompt the file !start.bat that's in the unpacked
file sfcure01.

9. Unpack file sfn.rar and launch sfn.exe (StarForce Nightmare 1.12)

10. Select in this order "Disable node" , "Disable CD" , "Disable node" , and
the IDE channel you use for real CD/DVD units (Pr. Slave , Sc. Master o Sc.

11. Launch the game

12. Play.

i rebooted the system, unplugged secondary ide, and then the game starts in a few seconds, not starting sfcure anymore, just mounting the image with rmps.
a friend of mines is still trying without result. Why ? don't understand.

What part of that don't you understand, because that was about as simnple an explanation as you can get? Ask specific questions, because that'll make it easier to help you.

I'm sorry, but in your case, I think it would be best if you just played with the original disc in the drive.
