Question MVP Baseball 2005

Hello,

I have MVP Baseball 2005 for the PC and have used a mini image of game disc 2. I have both Daemon v3.47 as well as Alcohol 120% virtual drives on my PC.

I found on this site a standalone No-CD application from HOODLUM. However, this version of the application is not "patched" So, I've always just stuck to the mini image when I don't feel like pulling out my game disc.

That being said, EA Sports is no longer making MLB titles because of licensing. As a result, I modded my existing exe file so that the game's start year is 2006. Only problem is, I have to use the no-cd application - which still has tons of bugs and kinks.

I'm wondering how I could create a new mini image of my modded game. I have tried making a mini image myself from the original game 2 disc using MiR.exe, but Daemon and Alcohol have a difficult time mounting an .Mir file - even after associating the file types with each program.

I think if I could make my own working image file from the original game, I'd at least know the steps to next....I hope.

Thanks for any help anyone can provide!

Please, elaborate.

What does "the application is not patched" mean? That it accepts a backup CD but it doesn't run without a CD (original or backup); in short, is it a "fixed EXE" rather than a "no-CD/DVD patch" (see the FAQ on GCW's terminology)?

Also, what does "having a difficult time mounting" mean? Do you get any error messages? If so, quote them fully. (That would be pretty weird, as a mini image is still a valid CD/DVD image.)

I recommend you to read the FAQ carefully through, for information on how to 1) create mini images, 2) solve problems with cracks and 3) report problems with cracks properly. Good luck!

Hey Joe Forster,

First, thanks for the response!

Sorry for my vagueness. Let me try to clarrify:

What I meant to say was that the No-CD crack hosted on GCW [by HOODLUM] is based on the game's original application file. With the original game application file, there are plenty of bugs associated with it.

As for the "difficulty" I was referring to, I meant to say that once mounted [successfully], the game did not launch. I received the usual error message from the game itself asking for the CD.

But, to add to this portion, thanks to you Joe Forster, I went into the FAQs, (I'll admit it - I only read the guidelines originally ), and found how to create a Mini Image using Alcohol 120%. It worked!

So, I think - in theory - I can do the following to address using my modded application file [with the starting year beginning in 2006 instead of 2005]:

1) Create Image of Game Discs (x 2)
2) Using UltraISO, edit image files for each disk:
... a. Swap default game application files with modded .exe file.
... b. Swap default game icon with modded/created .ico file
3) Burn Images using Alcohol 120%
4) Create Mini Image of Game Disc 2
5) Mount Image to play Custom/Modded MVP Baseball 2006

If you are looking to Mod this game.. you want to check out MVPMODS.com, Your EXE shouldn't be changing, I have a modded install which is almost like a new game for 2006 however my EXE still check for CD image mounted in Daemon.

I'm not sure exactly what you've done to your install.. You have a link?

Hello,

I've been on MVPMods.com ... and love it!

However, I modded the application file itself and I'm not too sure if the site's admin would host such a file. I certainly don't want to jeopardize that community.

I've actually been using the MVP06 mod from MVPMods.com. The only added "mod" that I've done is directly edit the game's application file.

One former EA employee confirmed that the game's exe is the source of the game's "start" period. Thus, I had to edit that in order to make the game start in 2006.

Unfortunately, I don't have a link or anything.

I use a mini image to mount my game's SafeDisc workaround - most of the times. Some times, I still use the game 2 disc, but seeing as how this game will probably have to serve as my baseball-fix for awhile, I really don't want to mess up my game disc.

As for my specific issue, when I use my modded application file to run the game, I cannot use my game's original/updated application file because it cannot verify the application file found in the image/game disc. Thus, I can only use my modded application file based on HOODLUM's No-CD Application file. But, as mentioned, this application file contains plenty of flaws associated with the original inept file EA originally released.

Hmmm....after reading this post over - I may have caused more confusion. Does any of this make sense now?
