DTM 3 Race Driver: 2 Problems

Hello and happy Easter!

i have two problems with DTM Race Driver 3:

1. i can run the game. but before course is loaded, the game crashes and i am back at the desktop.
why is this so?

2. how can i play the game without dvd. i made an image with alcohol 120 of my dvd and mountet it with daemon tools.
when i want to start the game, it says that i should put the dvd in another drive

now does anyone know a solution for my problems?

thank you

Simple (but long) answer to your 2nd question :
All virtual drives are SCSI drives. The copyprotection of your game (StarForce) don't "like" SCSI drives. It's simply because the creators of StarForce know, that virtual drives are SCSI drives. So they builded in a priority system into StarForce: whenever SF finds optical SCSI drives (mostly virtual) and optical IDE drives (alway real ) it prefers the IDE drives. That's why the Game requires the game disc in another drive.

To avoid this message you have to unplug your optical IDE drives . If you do this, StarForce won't find any optical IDE drive and accept the (virtual) SCSI drive...

To your 1. problem:

So you are running the game from your original DVD at the moment!?

Perhaps you should update the drivers of your graphics card! This could help!
Also make sure that you've installed the latest version of DirectX (V. 9.0c, Update February 2006).

To your 2. problem:

The only chance is to unplug the optical (physically existing) IDE drives!
If you have no idea about this, you should better leave this and take the original DVD for playing! Only use this method, if you exactly know what you're doing!!!

hmm i have unplugged the real drives and tried to run the game, but it does not work.

Message:

Kopierschutz konnte die Disk im Laufwerk nicht identifizieren. Bitte überprüfen Sie ob es eine Originaldisk ist.

I try to translate it:

The copy protection could not identify the disc. Please check wheter it is a original cd.

Copybase do not provide images. So: if you've made an image with Alcohol (MDS + MDF file), which won't work, you can go to copybase and get a MDS file there to replace your own MDS file (therefore you have to rename the downloaded MDS file to match the name of your selfmade MDS file).

As i know: you have to read DPM infos (but this option is already chosen if you set the predefined profile to "starforce 1/2/3" )... and don't set the reading speed to to the highest level - maybe 16x max should work...

I think most of this discussion is covered by FAQ entries V/2 and V/4 (and linked guides). If you have information that is missing from the FAQ, please, contact me (preferably, via E-mail). Thanks!
