Please identify my chip...

Hi all,

Almost 3 years ago now I purchased a messiah 2 pro v1.33 chip from charlie_ps2 and had it installed by someone here in holland on my us v7, but i keep getting strange rsod errors for some games. For instance mgs 3 and the new subsistence. They boot fine and everything, but when I choose the online function, this happens:
screen goes black,
disc reads a little,
drive spins faster and then slower,
i hear a "click" from my hd,
the "no-data" screen appears followed by..
RSOD!

Up until know I tried a few things. I read that a rsod alsoo could be caused by the tray hanging a bit to the side. As my tray also had this, i tried to lift it a little, but no luck. I also read that it could be a laser problem, but i personally dont think this is the case, cause all my other games work flawlessly. Then I decided to open up my ps2 system and check the original messiah 2 v7 diagrams and noticed that the solder points were very different! Could this indicate this is a clone chip? I googled for some pictures of the chip and some "clones" looked the same to my chip but my chip has written "datel" on it and on the picture it was "scenix".
Im clueless as what to do next, so if anyone can help please do so!

it looks like a clone to me but i have never delt with clones of these kinds or anything.. and assuming u bought from charile_ps2 it should be legit.. thoes wires look uninsulated.. how many wires in total are there? it appears to be very few which also gets me thinking!!

That is for sure a clone. Its referred to as a Messiah-TW (Taiwan) or Messiah-HK (Hong Kong) and is a piece of crap. That would be very funny if charlie himself sold you this chip LMFAO!!!!

Also no chip other then the Crystal Chip can play back-ups online.

Funnily enough, my mate had the same in his PS2 until I ripped it out for a new Crystal 1.1...

They are complete pieces of crap. 'nuff said

It dont really surprise me. As it turned out Charlie lied about alot of things. Dont get me wrong he had a wealth of knowledge but he was also very biased when it came to the messiah chip. He and Tylerdurden had a big argument about it as i remember. He was all about earning a profit so it wouldnt supprise me one bit if he sold people clones.

Thanks for the replies so far.... Come to think of it, it could also be possible that my installer swapped a legit messiah chip for this clone. In my memory the chip I got from charlie had "Actel" written on it and there was a label with Messiah 2 v1.33 or something like that. The chip that is in my console now, is secured in a way so I couldnt check if it was written on the other side of the chip(??) and I dont want to force anything. I think the install itself is ok, there were approx. 20 wires so that seems correct. I may take a new picture as this one was taken with a handycam instead of a digital camera, but Ill have to lend it from work....Anybody know what I could do to solve my rsod problem?

sorry to give you a bad news but that is not an original messiah even if it has datel written on it , the chip should be a scenix... but it' s stilla a clone of the original messiah2 (that uses an Actel). Also I advise you to change the wire used for the mod... try with a kynar wire

So it defenitely looks that ive been framed by the installer!! should i waste the guy?!

Without Charlie around to defend himself its hard to say. The installer is going to claim he installed the chip you gave him. Someone would be lieing but its hard to say who . Anyway I would install a new chip if possible. If you play online alot then the Crystal chip would be a good choice
