Starforce tools released

Reloaded (if they did do it or not) have released starforce tools for unpacking/unwrapping and how to make loaders to bypass starforce.

Very interesting read all the same, will be a laugh when some new people to ASM tries it out lol I can almost see the confusion on their faces

Still it still leaves me wondering was this (if a genuine release) a good idea to put out to public?

Seems very real to me. I think the main reason to release is to make more people understand how to crack SF3. It doesn't really matter as Starforce 4 is on its way. It could of course be because Reloaded are about to quit or something. That would make me sad...

StarForce 3 Reverse-Engineering Tools (c) Reloaded

Is this legal to use you think, like if you own the game ?

Yeah, its was nice of them to release this to public. They did it probably because SF 3.7 uses a different type of VM. I never reversed SF, so I dunno, just heard that somewhere.

The question should be: "Am I skilled enough in Reverse Engineering to actually understand and make use of these tools?"

yep, the tools definately require a bit of knowledge about the inner workings of the pc, and asm, and virtual machines.. which is most likely beyond the scope of most pc users... and most of the members on this forum

Before anyone asks...

This is NOT an unwrapper, like the old SD1 unwrapper from years ago...

There's posts all over the net with people thinking this is some straight universal starforce unwrapper

Dunno if it was a good idea to release it; the Starforce developers may find out the weak points of their copy protection (if they haven't already done so), by analyzing the sources. (Well, if the next generation Starforce is on the way, yes, this release doesn't matter much anyway.)

From what I've heard Starforce 4 is about finished now. So this release won't change much.

I think its cool of them to release it as more skilled people out there that are not part of the scene might find something out.

There is an unwrapper there amongst it all. It has to be encoded and changed a bit to use it, but it IS there.

Well, for older versions of SF you could make an unwrapper out of it with a little coding. But the SF people changed the VM, hence why RLD released these tools.
