Lag With Nba 2k6

I have the wireless network drive and everyting I play NBA 2k6 when I start a game with an oppenet it gives me the message "WAITING FOR OPPENENT" when im choosing my team to play with. and when I play it does it so much that the game is subject to arbutration anyone can help???
