psx patches

Does anyone know where to get psx patches that actually work?I've tried ones from gamecopy world and also tried patches by kalisto,BAD Paradox and others that I've found on the net, none have worked for games such as Toca World Touring Cars,Crash Team Racing,Soul Reaver, I could go on but won't. It's a real pain to keep wasting discs.
So far only Gran Turismo 2 has worked but that just modifies the game with having nothing to do with removing the protection. It's very disappointing to be told that the patching is successful and to have fun but you can't when it doesn't patch it correctly.
Any help would really be appreciated.
Thanx
Dave

Good news and bad news.
The good news - the patches work.
The bad news - bet you have a burner that CANNOT burn patched games.

Actually, it's been my experience that most of the patches on Megagames work just fine... the problem may be in the version patch you're d/ling or what patch it is. A pal/NTSC selector isn't going to get you past the modchip protection. Likewise a patch designed for a JAP/PAL game will not work for a UC/NTSC version of the same game.

Additionally, I can recommend Clone CD... I have made a great many successful backups with it, even on games that CDRWIN failed to read for whatever reason. And the beauty of Clone CD...no patches! (ok, you may need a GS code to pass the mod protection)
