Hmmm
Tough living in the mother Russia, when the "programmers" from Starfxxx are so close to you... pulled the file, eh? It seems to me that the very people who distributed illegal software there in the past are involved now in protection business... just an asumption, not a verdict. |

Yes, "thieves become the best policemen".
And, you're wrong: the (assumed) percentage of illegal software is still very high (like 30-50%?) in Russia; though, in Hungary, too.

I did not say that piracy is dead in Russia: 30-50%? common .... I bet is even more.
I'm from a country neighbouring Hungary, so we know what we are talking about in the East: on games, is over 80-90% -at least here. On software - not so high, as companies are buying legit OS/applications. What I don't like is that Starforce developers or their friends are using illegal methods (mafia-like) to discourage dissent among legit users - see UBI forum case, death threats and all - but I will not clutter the forum with this )

As far as I know, it's "grey" in Hungary.
There's a (relatively large!) fee on recordable/rewriteable CD's/DVD's that you can buy in the shops so that you'll have your "fair use" rights and record stuff onto it other than your own home-made videos. I'm not sure if it's an intentional hole in the laws or it's just the usual idiotism of law-makers but the "stuff" above legally also includes digital material downloaded from the Internet. The result is a joke: in Hungary, it is illegal to share copyrighted material on the Internet, but it is not illegal to download copyrighted material. I've read this on several forums but these don't come from legal departments or (sensible) lawyers (i.e. not from the BSA, Artisjus and other idiots) or, as explanation of the law, from a ministry so take it with some salt. ![]() However, it's going to change soon, I guess: such differences between the laws of the EU and Hungary (now a EU member) cannot be tolerated!
