new boy having a nightmare.....!
I spose you fellas get this all the time so sorry for repeating whats already asked but anyway....
Im trying to copy backups and having no luck. The disk says its copied successfully and when I try it in the console nothing happens. Im running Win XP pro with a 16 x speed TEAC and good media. Ive tried - CDClone (latest) "on the fly" and "make image/burn image" Diskjuggler - (latest) I get "ECD errors" or "invalid media type" NTI CD Maker Pro - shall I go on? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks |

Use Disc Juggler to copy the disc to an IMAGE, keep the settings at default (what Disc Juggler had when first installed).
Once you have a .CDI image file, you should be able to burn the .CDI back to another disc without any problem. The point is, it's difficult if not near impossible to copy backups of Dreamcast games using a DISC-to-DISC method. If you prefer Nero, you might try an experiment that worked for me when I was copying another type of disc that's sensitive to format... Load REGEDIT (START / RUN / REGEDIT) Go to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ahead\Nero - Burning Rom\General Look for "AddISOFileVersion" (should be at the top of the list). Data contents will probably be a "1", change data to "0". Apparently the version number appended to the file effects some programs (they don't like it). Turning this function off may fix Nero's inability to make good backup copies. I just don't know for a fact. |

Still no luck copying???? Please help if you can!
Ok I tried it and no luck!
In DJ, when creating the image (.cdi) file it reports: "illegal mode for this track or invalid packet size" and aborts. In advanced, if I tick "raw read" it creates the image file but when I create a disk from the image it still doesnt work. If I look at the original disk in explorer I can see all the data files etc but if I look at the newly created copy, it struggles to read it for a while and then says "The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable" N.B I can copy VCDs and Data CDs no problem! Thanks again. |

update....
I tried to do a copy at work on a win xp machine doing a straight copy using clone CD. I cant test it till I get home (for obvious reasons) but I can examine the copied CD and all the files are there! Plan B is to uninstall all of the burning software from my pc at home and install DJ on its own from scratch, then try. Any other ideas would be appreciated. cheers fella |
