I use a program called VideoMach (Version 2.4.0) I found it out at www.download.com, the 30-day free trial never runs out for some reason. I just keep hitting the Evaluate button and it keeps on let me edit and convert video, without any side-effects. It is a full-featured demo that never expires.

I can convert AVI and MPEG and BAY and MP3 and WAV. It is quite user friendly and very easy to pick up on right off the bat. It lets you choose whether you want video and audio in the same file or in two different files or only video or only audio. Check it out.
