No
No either use your Original, or make an image-copy and run it with sfn + sfcure.

I think there is still no NO-CD patch/crack, but you can run the game with an image (To avoid StarForce you should make the image in a .mdf/.mds file).
You can also use Daemon Tools v4.00HE, I've tested yesterday and it works. The only think I had to do is unplug my DVD writer (the power cable) and using all emulations on Daemon and the serial it passes the StarForce protection and you can play!

Why you assume that, is that what the warez version is? I hope you read the rules. |

DABhand, I dont know why did you said that... I'm not talking about Warez, but the only known way to avoid StarForce protection is with .mds images and emulation.
Is it a crime to run the game with a backup? I have UFO original as well, but I dont really like what StarForce does to the PC, so I'm trying to search a way to avoid using it. |

You said that he probably had the game in mdf/mds format. Why would you assume that?
He didnt say he made an image, or if he had an original or not, but you quickly assumed he had the game in this disc image format. You could have said "Make an image with Alcohol 120% to get mdf/mds files". |

DABhand, I think youre missunderstanding me (or maybe I'm missunderstanding you).
The thing is "someone" wants a No-CD/No-DvD crack/patch. Since we're talking of a game that runs in a whole DvD (at least 3.7Gb I think), there is no possible way of using a No-CD/DvD without an image, since the installation doesnt copy all the needed files. In cases when the game is so big you need files from the CD/DVD to be able to run without the CD/DVD, you have two options: - Copy the folders/files to the installation directory (this requires many free space) and use a crack/patch (not available atm for UFO:Aftershock) - Do a image/mini image in a .mds format (to avoid StarForce), use emulation and run the game. So, I'm just saying if he wants to run the game without the DVD he should have the DVD image to be able to run it without problems. I'm not telling anyone to download the ***.mds image from whatever web/P2P or whatever. Still if the user had asked me how to do it, or how to get the image, I would had tell em how to do the image via Alcohol. Excuse me if I dont follow your point, but I dont think I'm talking about warez or things like that. I just want to share the info I used to run my copy with no DVD. You have to watch what you say though dude, cause to me it seemed like you thought the guy already had a mdf/mds file. He was looking for a way to play without CD, if he had an mdf/mds file already he would be using it to play the game that way and ultimately he wouldnt have asked his original question.
If you follow me. |

kk, now I saw what you we're telling me. I've edited the line to avoid breaking board rules (it might be missunderstanded for someone :P).
Now I think there is no problem on it... (or at least I hope there is not) |
