I don't know why the new crack by VOLKSWAGEN (VW) does not work for you, haven't downloaded and tried it yet! But there is another way for playing the game without DVD!

1. Download one of the two FIXED MAXI-IMAGES from GCW.
2. Mount the image in "Alcohol120% (V. 1.9.5.3105)".
3. Use "SafeDisc 4 Hider V. 1.1" or "SafeDisc 4 Blocker" (can be found @ GCW!) for hiding all virtual drives, so that the copy protection does not notice the emulation.
4. Start the game and have fun!

I used "SafeDisc 4 Hider V. 1.1" on NFSMW 1.3 and it works fine!

I know this way, i use it now but i prefer a fixed exe ...

It does'nt work when it is named speed.exe but when it is named nfsMW.exe it work nice ? strange no ?

The Japanese cracked exe works fine, you just have to install patch 1.3 as well. I've noticed that game performance suffered without the 1.3 patch using the cracked exe.

Note that in order to get the Japanese exe to work, you HAVE to set its compatibility to Windows 2000 if you have Windows XP or 2003, otherwise it just crashes. To set windows 2000 compatibility mode, right click on the exe and go to properties-> compatibility tab, check "Run the program in compatibility mode for:" and select "Windows 2000" in the pull-down menu

The VW cracked exe works as well (haven't tried it much) and doesn't need windows 2000 compatibility mode

The subtitles appear because of the 1.3 patch. To remove them, just rename or delete the SUBTITLES folder and they'll be gone

When it is named nfsMW.exe it work fine without compatibility mode ...

But when it is named speed.exe it work only with the compatibily mode ...

I will propose a french no-cd (I have made the hexa modification my self in the french exe and it work whit compatibility mode) ...

VW Need For Speed MW Crack and "Japanese" 1.3 crack are identical files!!!
No, it can't be, VW release have about 20mb and "japanese" is about 7mb you say-WRONG!
Files are binary identical except:
1. VW put his name in the header instead "stxt371". That means nothing for the cracked file, it's just advertise.
2. After the end of file VW has 13mb of blank bytes (all zeroes). That also have nothing to do with crack and it's pointless...

And if you need to turn on compatibility mode with "japanese" version, you need to turn it on with VW release also!! If you think that you don't then check it again, maybe it is checked by previous experimenting with "japanese" version.

BTW, both releases work without compatibility mode for me IF I put check in "disable visual themes" AND "turn off advanced text service..." in NFS shortcut! And yes, if I rename file I don't have to do nothing, it works without "tricks"... Go figure...

Indeed, infovs is right. VW's release is a ripoff, it's not theirs. I can confirm that the files are identical, and VW has just padded their EXE with zeroes to make it look bigger. The different bytes betweeen the two files are:

So, VW's "crack" is just a lame ass ripoff off the Japanese cracked EXE, therefore a FAKE release. It also needs win2000 compatibility mode to work, same as the japanese one. VW have just filled the EXE with junk and put their signatures in it, without changing anything substantial in the file whatsoever.

Please don't upload this to gcw, VW are just lame thieves, who have released their "cracked" exe to spread their name around

Also, it's true that you don't need to set win2000 compatibility mode to get the game to work. You only need to check the "Turn off advanced text services for this program" to get it working, which makes sense, as advanced text services are used for the Japanese language. The "Disable visual themes" checkbox didn't make a difference for me, I only needed to disable advanced text services to play the game

Plus, the VW "crack" has a file modification date of yesterday (4/1/06), exactly 8 minutes before Nightmare85 made his post with the link to it *cough*. Now, I wonder who the people in this VW group really are *cough*ban?*cough*

VW also stole cracks of MotoGP3 and Codename Panzers 2 and packed them with exe crypter/packer, that is why you do not see cracked securom protection and the files are smaller. It is not true that they cracked them and completely removed the securom/starforce Protection - they/he just packed it to earn unearned respect

Don't use compatibility mode, just disable text sevices (it's a bit further down on the same tab as compatibility mode).

If the game doesn't work when you name the file speed.exe, open the japanese speed.exe with a hex editor (e.g HexWorkShop), find the string "speed.exe" and change it to something else, e.g. xpeed.exe or just make all characters spaces

Hmm thats the same one i grabbed on day 1 of release here, it unpack to say VW in .NFO, unless its been changed since then.

EDIT: Thanks, it seem the VW has been pulled cause thats the same desciption i grabbed other day as there is only 2 and i got the cd not dvd one, thanks now i have good Jap one with none the VW crap thats i read about above.

I've applied the new crack by VOLKSWAGEN and it's not a 100% ok, but it works. After I set the compatibility mode to Windows 2000 and deactivated "Visual Designs" (same tab as compatibility mode) the NO-DVD crack now works!
But I will test it a bit more, to see if it crashes after some time or at a specific point of the game!

By the way I have the GERMAN DVD-VERSION of the game.

Anyone else here, who has made good/bad experiences with the VW crack???

Read a couple of posts above yours, the VW crack is the same as the Japan version fixed exe

@dede: glad to hear it's working You need to install patch 1.3 as well, otherwise the game will be slower with the fixed exe (the fixed exe is ver 1.3). Don't forget to keep a copy of your changed Japan EXE file
