C&C Generals Zero Hour

Been playing for a few years, lots of fun. But ever since I got my broadband I cant connect to any games, NONE! I think its to do with firewalls and all that dont I dont really understand all that. I keep getting Unable to connect to any game I join. When I had dail up it worked just fine, just not now. I really want to solve this and play.

is it broadband on a router? if so you need to open the port that the game in question uses to play online.

Kassad if you check EA games FAQ's for the game, it will tell you which port to open for the game. I also think its under the troubleshooting in the manual.

Read the manual for your router, it will tell you how to login to it through internet explorer, there you can open up ports on your router to allow games to access the net.

Some good routers not cheap ones usually have a game list where you select the game and add it, and it automatically sets up the ports.

If yours doesnt, just check your manual for the game under FAQ's/Troubleshooting or the EA games website both will tell you which port to use.

Here is the text version

Text Version

Configuring your Connection

Click Start
Click Connect To
Click on Show all connections
Right click on your network connection (not Internet)
Click Properties
Click on Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) to highlight it
Click on the Properties button just below
Choose 'Use the following IP address'
Under IP Address for type in: 192.168.1.1 (or whatever your routers IP address is)
Click on 'Subnet mask' and this will be put in automatically (if not, type in: 255.255.255.0)
Under default gateway (for those with routers, this is where you put your router's IP Address. You can ask your ISP for further details on this), for the purposes of this example we will put in 192.168.1.254
Click OK
Close the remaining windows and then try the game again, once the other machine(s) are configured accordingly

Testing The Connection

Click Start
Click Run
Type in: cmd
Click OK
Presuming you have configured your other machine with an IP Address of 192.168.1.2, in the black box that just appeared type in: ping 192.168.1.2

If you receive messages saying that you got a reply then the machines are ready to play over a LAN. If you have messages saying 'Request timed out' then check the settings again and the hardware (cables, network card etc)

Finding Out Your IP Address

Click Start
Click Run
Type in cmd
In this black box, type in: ipconfig
You can now see your IP Address in the list

----------------------------------------------------
Looks like this game doesnt need any ports open

Awesome now I can play, But the big reason I stopped playing was something no one would want to happen to them..
I got Hacked (Y3s HaX0rz) or EA database got ****ed up. I was Brigader General, 3rd highest rank you can get online. My score was.. crappy but something I worked for very hard Wins 246 Losses 224. The next time I logged in my score changed to W106 L253, which really sucked, badly. I made another acc, China Infantry gen won me W13 L1. Logged out and when I relogged in my score was 0/0, im thinking im being hacked, or EA's Database doesnt really like me. Should I even bother reporting this to EA?

That is suspicious, but I dont think a hacker can get your scores reset even if there is an option, it wouldnt explain your first one.

I think they have lost their database, and were using backups etc.

But report it all the same, see if they can give an explanation.
