I just got HDavdance 3.0 with mator 40 GB hard dirve for now, until i get a 200 GB, on a version 5 PS2 (with no solder chip that i had in a few years ago)and its awesome, i even got Gran Turismo 4 on it. This is sweet. just wanted all of u to know it. I was getting sick of using the swap magic disc. Now the games load up faster and no need to burn your originals any more do disc. I love it.

Just so everyone knows. HD-Advance (HDA) is nothing more then the freely distributed patched HD-Loader (HDL). They press it to a disc so that a non-chipped PS2 can boot it. But thats all they have done. All the data on the HDA discs was created by others that have released this for free. This is OK I guess for the guy that doesnt want a modded system, but a modded system with the patched HDL is a much more powerful solution then HDA alone. The patched HDL needs a mod chip or an exploit to be booted. If I didnt want to mod my system I would do the exploit before I ever considered purchasing HDA.
Any chip with dev1 mode can boot the patched HDL from a memory card with absolutely no disc in your PS2 at all... I would consider this better then booting the pressed HDA every time I wanted to play a game.

HD via the network adapter
Well, I know version 3 lets me rip my games onto my computer and send them to my HD via the network adapter. So now i don't even need dvdrs for most my games. And it is cheaper than having a mod installed

You can do one better with WinHiip (which is free software) and transfer it to the PS2's HDD right on your PC its self! Or if your hard up to do it over a network you can use Faplink which is also free or HDLDump with its network feature, yes free also. And for your comment about it being cheaper.....the exploit costs all of $0.00 so I don’t see your point.
Bottom line HDA is stolen work from others that have released it for free. They are making money off something that is free.....and people that pay for it must only be doing so because they don’t know of the better options, thus the reason for my post here. Hopeful someone will read this and realize they don’t need to spend the money on HDA when they can do better by getting a modchip in combination with HDL. HDA depending on where you go will run you $30-$40 anyway, why not spend just a little more and get a mod chip and you will have a much more powerful solution. Also when new patches for HDL become available to combat incompatibilities with new games and what not with the patched HDL and a mod chip the updates will be free. With HDA you will have to wait for the HDA people to sell out there stock of HDA 3.0's before they will release a new version of the HDA with the updates they rip off. Just my thought taken for what you will

You have to have a mod chip with dev1 mode in order to boot applications from the memory card. I dont believe the swap chips ever allowed for this. You can use any chip to boot the patched HDL from a burned CD-R.
