Gun

1. Copy the contents from the three discs to any Temp directory you want. Make sure you start with the last disc and work towards the first so the Autorun.inf gets overwritten. Click yes to all when asked to overwrite files and directories.

2. Now using Orca modify the Gun (TM).msi file and target the Media component. Just copy the first cell in the DiskPrompt column, GUN CD 1, and overwrite the cells that say GUN CD 2 and 3. Also in the VolumeLabel column copy the first cell, GUNCD1, and overwrite the rest of the cells that say GUNCD2 and 3.

3. Save the .msi file overwriting the original.

4. Burn the directory to a blank DVD naming the disc, GUNCD1, and install the game. This is tested by me and works like a champ.

On a side note I have tried to rename the dvd anything but GUNCD1 even after changing the .msi package but it won't install even when editing the .msi to match. This is the only naming scheme I have found that works. Not all titles are like this but for some reason Gun is.

You could throw in the "nocd patch" too, when you burn it to DVD.

Well the DVD can be labelled anything, it all depends on what you edit the msi to!

pal...

the dvd cant b labeled anything,,, as the setup check s for the label...

and i mean not just the msi file but also the install shield file as well...

u just patch the msi,, and that will not override....it...

i also dound that the dvd can also b patched to "GUNDVD"

i found it in the installshield script file....

just patching it,,, so that it accepts all the labels......

thanx

@angel-TDw!
I assure you my DVD conversion has the label GUNDVD, and I have only edited the 'Gun (TM).msi'.
I have not edited the 'ISScript9.Msi' file, it still has 'DISK1' as the Volume Label under Media.
So I really dont understand why others have problems with labelling their conversion?
When I say the DVD can be labelled anything, I mean you should be able to label the DVD to whatever you edited the Volume Label column to in the 'Gun (TM).msi' file under 'Media'.
For me it was just a standard msi file edit?

Wink

@ grumpy...

pal..u mis-understood me...

wot i ment was,,, most of the games can b patched by simply patching "media" in the msi file... but gun is a bit different.......
it has 2 protections, and both r in the same msi file-> gun.msi
1st is the media, which every1 edits... but the 2nd 1 is hidden inside the gun.msi file,,, thats the installshield script file, setup.inx, which is extracted to the temp folder in windows dir, when u start the setup of the game..
the script also checks for the cd label. u can name the dvd as GUNDVD just because it is specified in the script file, else u cant make it run. u can label the dvd anything from, "GUNCD1, GUNCD2, GUNCD3, GUNCD4, GUNCD5, GUNCD6, GUNCD7, and GUNDVD" anything else other then these, and the setup will ask for the cd, thou u might have patched the media part in the msi.

i have finally bypassed this thing,,,,,, now i can name my dvd anything other then the words specified above, and my media part in the msi is empty, "NULL". its all cause i have edited the script file and then reembided it back in the msi... . just 25 min work and everything done...

if any1 needs the patched msi file, then just ask....

friends r always welcome....

thanx

angel

Yes it appears I have misunderstood you.
But, why bother to edit the setup.inx when it is really not necassary? Only needs doing if you really want a totally different label?

ya pal....

i have a group of 3, and v purchase games on chance basis,,,

1 after teh another,,, so so copy the game and back it up on dvds,,,,

and use the dvds, so that the original never gets spoiled,,,

and since gun is a small game, not full dvd, so v combine 2-3 games in 1 dvd

2 extract the max from a dvd,,,, and label the dvds as "All In One # 1" and

so on,,, thats y,,,

i recently purchased, gun, and my friend, the incredibles, so i want 2 write

both the games onto 1 dvd,,, so that v can extract the max.... and when

i checked the game, i found that i couldnt do so, without editing the setup.inx

so i did it,, and now i m gonna burn both of them, ofcourse, il have 2 wait, till

i get a fully no-cd crack for the incredibles : the rise of the underminer.

since the reloded release is not a full patch, it still asks for the cd.

i checked that 2, the game wants the label as, ISK2, and the game

just needs 2 files on the cd, boot.hip and mnui.hip. thou the setup copies

these 2 files, in trhe installation folder.. strange.... so just waiting 4 the

proper patch.

thanx

Hang on! Let me understand this correctly?
You and 2 other friends buy one game each?
Then you all get together and create 3 seperate DVD's (one DVD for each of you) containing all 3 games?
So you each only purchase one game but end up with a DVD which contains 3 games?
Is that correct?

German to English?

This guys uncle bought the German version of the game for him as a Christmas present when he was stationed in Germany.

It has English subs when they talk, but the pop-up's and other screens are in german. Anyone know if its possible to install it in English?

@Israfil
Follow the instructions and create your own, its not hard to do.
You can download 'Orca' from www.cd-2-dvd.com. You will be happier with yourself if you learn how to create it as then you will be able to do any other conversion with ease,
