mp3 on the ps2

Hi im new to this so please keep any answers nice and simple !

Is it possible to play Mp3 on the Ps2 ?

no, it can only play dvd's, music cds, and of course ps cds.

I've read somewhere that a boot disc was going to be launched in the states that would allow you to play mp3 - or was I just dreaming it ?
I have also read a guide for converting your mp3 files to play on an usa ps2 - but it was complicated and i did not really understand it!

Thank you for your help anyway - I guess I will just have to wait and see what happens !!!
