We need a definitive burning FAQ for NEW DREAMCAST MODELS!
I have been through this board, up down, left, right, etc... I have tried method after method of burning for new DC's and still have a leaning tower of coasters.
Would someone who has a new DC, and has successfully burnt games for it, please take a few moments and write a detailed description, step by step, on how they went through the process. If one solid, detailed post existed, we wouldn't have people (like me) asking over and over again about this..... Somebody, take the wheel and come through, please..... Thanks, djcrestone (exchanged broken older DC for new one and is paying the price) |

I use BIN2BOOT and then burn the image in DJ 3.5.....Stick it in the DC and it boots to the audio screen. I used the steps in this fourm link:

crestone, BIN2BOOT DOES work. There are several people here with new Dreamcast units (post-OCT00) that have verified that it works.
You ***MUST*** use the version I posted the link to if you expect it to work. Any earlier version of BIN2BOOT will probably not work, or at least they won't work well. The other possibility is the DJ 3.5 you're using. It may not burn the image the same way as DJ 3.0, but most likely it has to do with the fact that you've probably changed settings in your DJ that are effecting the success of your burn. One way to get a clue to whether it's the Dreamcast or Disc Juggler... Check the disc you burned using your CDROM drive (or CDRW). Examine its contents in Windows Explorer and if you see an AUDIO disc or a blank disc with 648mb of "FREE SPACE", you have a bad burn, period. Look at DJ as the culprit. If you see files as though it were a CDROM disc, then the Dreamcast unit may not like the format. |
