That's a little cryptic, don't you think, rendari? I mean, if you would be so kind as to tell us what's needed to be 00'd out to make a maxi image, we'd all be a lot wiser, and bugging you a lot less, now wouldn't we?

I wish someone would just give us a straight, step by step, answer of how to make a working mini maxi image, and the tools required...

Do it my way.

Get a full image of a game that a maxi image is out for.

Compare the full image to the maxi image.

And congragulations, you can now make a maxi image with a DVD.

Its harder for a CD tho because the ****er checks for weak sectors implanted in the middle of the CD.
If you accidentally 00 out those weak sectors *bam* "Incorrect CD...".

So, pretty much, I am working on figuring what it checks for in the CD, and trying not to 00 that out.

Thumbs up

Rendari, good point, and while that makes sense to me (I think) having had some hex-editing background, it'll probably go over other people's heads... is this the only way to make a maxi image? I thought it had to do with a really high form of compression, but if it's just 00'ing out, I guess it makes sense, but that's kinda disappointing...

Here I was, expecting some new form of technology for compression... I guess one can dream

Question

Not sure what you mean, but I guess it would be whatever you name the actual image when you make it... lol

Example: you_file_name_here.mds

Note: Remember to load the mds as opposed to the mdf file, or you may have issues

Not for Safedisc. You can load both .MDF and .MDS for safedisc and not have problems because you do not need the DPM, which is stored in the .MDS. For all other protections, you can only mount the .MDS.

Hö?
I can only mount the mds files, my daemon is limited in doing such stuff, mounting mdf files
wtf are you using to mount a single mdf ? there always is an mds file with an mdf, so why not using it...

Arrow

muJi.fiGHt3r, if you really want to mount an mdf, all you have to do is modify your mounting program settings in the registery, or simply use Daemon Tools' mount feature and select the mdf file... but hey, if you have the mds and you wanna use that, it makes no difference, as rendari stated, when it comes to SafeDisc

Hope that help :P

I actually bought this game, which is unusual as I hate driving games in general, but I like the story in it and the GTA feel.

So im kinda impressed.

All I did was the following.

1. Instead of using my own image, I used the maxi image on GCW.

2. Installed Daemon Tools 4, changed bus names on install, when installed, Right clicked DT as if you were going to mount an image and chose properties instead, here I changed all 3 headers to something different. Enabled all emulation, and mounted the image. Closed DT from taskbar saying yes leaving emulation on.

3. Made sure no emulator/debugger/hiding programs were running.

4. Played the game.

At first I got a stupid d3dx9_26.dll error, dunno why as NFS installed it during setup. But to get rid of it, I went into the discs' DirectX folder and opened the d3dx9_26 cab file and extracted the dll to the game folder, and it worked after that.

/me shrugs

Just for info, if you have the DVD version from this game, surch a friend with CD version and make an image from CD 1 they are smaller as DVD image and work perfekt with deamon tools and SD4hide or (i use starfhulck tool with profile "starorce 3.49 DO NOT Patch CDrom" (all other option activated).
For mini or maxi image creators don't use DVD image use image from CD1 is bether, smaller and work on all versions.
