CD Adio Track volume adjusting program needed.

I need a program that you can adjust CD audio track files to match the volume level of other CD audio tracks from different CD soures. There is a program that comes with Nero 6 that I can do this with MP3 files called Nero Wave editor but I'm not sure what works for CD audio track files from store boughten music CD's... Any suggestions?

Nero has a built in normalizing filter. Simply drop all the files (no matter what codec they use, unless you have the necessary nero codecs installed) into your compilation and choose your normalisation method from the filter menu, thus creating a normalized audio cd.

Or google for a tool called wave normalizer, but it can only handle wave files.

Hope this helps.

I've tried normalizing music files in the past on Nero and a few other programs but I haven't found one that can do a good job yet automatically, has it worked well for you? I really hate it when a few songs will play at a certain volume and the the next one comes on and you have to either turn the volume up or down. I'll give Nero another test, its been many updates ago since I used Nero 6 for normalizing music files, maybe they improved something since then or I'll see what Google comes up with. Thanks for the input.

Nero worked well for me, but I am using soundforge for some time now, which is very good, but it is expensive as it does much more than just normalizing. Looking for a cheap alternative, I m sure, Nero does a good job, but there are other tools around, just try some, to find out the one, you really like. I am in a hurry now, got to go to work....

Have you tried MP3Gain? It has more options to normalize tracks: single and album (if I remember correct).

Monty Burns, should I normalize to the maximum or use the defualt RMS 20% in Nero? Also should I just normalize the 2 tracks that I need to bring up to the same volume level of the other 16 tracks on the CD or should I normalize all 18 tracks?

DarkSoul, MP3Gain looks like it might be a good option for MP3 files, thanks I'll give it a try next time I do this for MP3's but it doesn't seem to work with CDA audio tracks from a store boughten CD, says Warning-Read-only file will not be able to be modified: track 18.CDA Add file to the list anyway? When I do it seems I can't modify it.

Yeah, mp3gain is only useful for mp3s.

Personally, I prefer the Maximum "Filter" within Nero and set it to 89....., normalize all tracks you want to have on one audio cd.

That does seem to help some but the 2 tracks are still at a lower volume level than the rest. Hopefully Nero 7 has a way to manually adjust that option when it comes out this month. Thanks for the info.....

Cool Edit

Hi
Does it Auto

Group Waveform Normalize...
Group Waveform Normalize allows you to normalize the volume of multiple open waveforms using a three-screen batch process. (When you normalize a waveform, the loudest part of the waveform is set to a specified amplitude, thereby raising or lowering all other parts of the same waveform by the same amount.) If the volume is raised as part of the normalization process, Cool Edit Pro can apply limiting to prevent clipping.

If you’re getting ready to master an audio CD, using Group Waveform Normalize is a great way to make sure that all tracks on the CD have a consistent volume.

1. Choose Files Tab

2. Analyze Loudness Tab

3. Normalize Tab

Edit > Group Waveform Normalize

Cool Edit Pro doesn't exist anymore, it's been bought by Adobe and renamed to Adobe Audition:
http://www.adobe.com/special/product...ntrillium.html

It's a very good program, but it's quite advanced if you just need it for normalizing tracks. Try Audacity, which is much smaller and free:
http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

MP3Gain is a good choice if you need a tool only for normalizing:
http://mp3gain.sourceforge.net/.

You do have to RIP the tracks to use a wave editor though, I assume there is no need for this with Nero, am I correct?
