i need laser help big time!!!!
ok last week i recently installed my brand new laser. everything is working perfect untill tonight. out of no where during the middle of a game the laser starts making these loud reving noises like a dirtbike. now it wont load any games!! and just continues to make these crazy loud grinding reving noises. whats goin on with this, do i need to adjust the pots?? i slightly moved the dvd pot to the left ( i read that before you adjust it higher (to the right) its good to always adjust it lower incase) i dont understand why it would just do that out of no where. this is really frustrating

did you check was there a solder bridge on the black of the new laser?if so did you remove it?
if it was new there should be no need to change the dvd port infact even moving this slightly will change the value of it a lot and thus kill the laser off quickly check that the data cable is in right and also check all other cables if it is a new laser and you have tried all of this try disableing the chip and see if that make any diffrence hope it helps

i checked everything and no solder bridge, ribbons were fine, its weird because it was perfect for a whole week then out of no where it started making noises. i did adjust the dvd pot and now it plays the games fine again with no noises. they also told me when i bought the laser that i might have to adjust the voltage because sometimes thats how new lasers are.

In my experience its best to always measure the pots and be sure there set in the "safe zone" when installing a new laser. No 2 consoles are exactly the same. I know people who have burned up there new lasers on the first power up because they were not set correctly. Multimeters are cheap and are a must have when it come to laser adjustments and checking install problems. IMO laser replacement should be done by a well experienced installer. Azimuth and Radial Skew are just as important and can be difficult for someone thats never done it to get correctly.
