hey,
I'm new here, but I also have a question that I can't solve with PON. I have the unpatched version. I installed daemon -mounted the image -all emulation options on -exit daemon -clicked yes on leave on emulation options enabled Opened Sr7.stop_1.0 -click hide -quit sr7.stop I start up PON and I still always get the error "Original disk could not be found or authenticated" Is it also the same with you that the Matrix3W32S.bin keeps on autorunning and autorunning to start up the game until it almost freeze your pc? I can each time click an "ok" button after i get the "Original disk could not be found or authenticated" error, but it keeps on comming back. Once I got into the game after clicking ok, I changed resolution and stuff, got trown out and since then never got back in... |

No unpatched game, I stil have the 1.0 version so the 1.01 patch can't be the problem.
I used the neo-mini as image |

Ok Ok, youve confused me..
Unpatched, all you have to use is this.. Sr7Stop Daemon Tools (When installing daemon tools you have to rename the bus drivers during install... Then after installing you enable all emulation and mount the image, go back and goto the same option for mounting an image, at the bottom you will see properties. Goto this and change the top 3 options, Vendor, etc to something else. After which you run sr7stop, then close daemon tools from taskbar saying yes to keep emulation running. It should play this way. Or you can try Anti-Blaxx.) |

I thought the problem was with renaming the busdrivers, becaus that was the only thing I hadn't tried. I reinstalled daemon, renamed busdriver. Renamed those 3 options you were telling about (also did that before the reinstallation) but still nothing... I already tried anti-blaxx earlier this day, but also with no result |

Found this posted on another forum
------ To get this to work with the patch using only the game mounted in Daemon Tools and some registry modifications: 1. Find the 'Scsi Port #' key under HKLM\HARDWARE\DEVICEMAP\SCSI\ that corresponds with Daemon Tools (look at the Driver key for the Daemon tools driver name.) Either change the permissions to Deny everything for your user or group, or change the Driver value here to anything else. (Securom will look up the driver in another part of the registry so it doesn't fool it if you're not using the default Daemon Tools driver name.) 2. Find HKLM\System\MountedDevices and locate the registry key that corresponds with your virtual drive. For example: \DosDevices\G: is mine. Rename this key to anything else such as \DosDevices\G:.backup. Make sure that you do not deny any permissions to MountedDevices, otherwise Securom will indicate that a security module couldn't be activated. 3. Find HKLM\SOFTWARE\D-Tools and change the permissions to Deny everything. If you still get the message about a security module that couldn't be activated, either you are denying permissions to something in the registry that you shouldn't be, you have another virtual drive program that it is detected whose presence you'll need to hide, or it's complaining about some other active program. For instance, if I have Regmon or NewsLeecher open, Securom complains. Why Securom would blacklist a Newsreader I don't know. By the way, this worked for the latest FEAR patch as well. Some of these registry changes are reverted when you reboot and need to be reapplied. The change that hides D-Tools will prevent Daemon Tools from loading so make sure it's already running and change it back as necessary. UPDATE: If, when you installed Alcohol or Daemon Tools, you kept the default names for the drivers, you'll need to uninstall and reinstall the software. This time, choose your own names for those drivers, because Securom is hard-coded to look for the default names. I uninstalled Alcohol and reinstalled it in expert mode (minus the StarWind iScsi service), choosing some random names for the drivers. Then I took the same steps I did for Daemon Tools (this time denying permissions on HKLM/Software/Alcohol Soft instead of HKLM/Software/D-Tools) and it worked. |

Can anyone confirm this method?
Also, the last "UPDATE:..." part is not clear. In that part you say you will have to re-install for instance Daemon Tools and assign a new name for the virtual device, but you can change the name in step 1's registry key and also in HKLM\SOFTWARE\D-Tools, which clearly reads the virtual drive's name. So if we re-install daemon and assign another name, then step 1 is useless, right? Also, if we deny the premissions, do we still need to reinstall and change the d-tools driver name? Please someone try this and answer. Last edited by THE LEGEND; 13-11-2005 at 17:13. |

I actually had this working for awhile, then I rebooted, set the permissions again, and it stopped working....
I found it here: http://www.mgforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=43012 |

1) Did you re-installed daemon and renamed the virtual drive, or did you just follow the 3 steps intructions?? 2) On that forum link you posted (namely the original thread where this new "instructions" came from) I noticed some user said: "By the way guys who have the game bought cant play it after the patch too Same problem....." So the people that are playing it right with the original retail disk are having problems too? That is weird, I thought it was only the case with backups. If this is true, then atari will have to release another patch. So please reply. |

Followed the instructions exactly, step 1-3 except instead of modifying the permissions on Daemon Tools, I modified the permissions on A120
I dont have Daemon Tools installed. |

Yes it works, its a pain to get it to work, but it does. And i did have to reinstal Alcohol and i did have to alter the reg again after restart.
And if you go to the forums of the game you can see all they issues that this patch caused, which was getting the game to run. But it doesnt realy have anything to do with our problems of getting it to run |
