No you don't need a mod chip to play ps2 backups. You just need a gameshark v 1.9 and if the game is over 72 minutes you will need a no mod patch for it. This method saves your warranty.

If you are referring to the cog, knife method or the card swap trick they do work but i wouldnt risk damaging my PS2 by taking the tray cover off and raming a card or knife into it. There are 23000 members in this forum and most will tell you this is a bullshit way of playing backups, BUY A MODCHIP.

To be honest with all of you I have tried the card/swap method and I have burned like 8 games already using clone cd and it has worked perfectly. I also use Game shark 1.9.
And thyres no damage at all to my PS2 either. The only thing I was wondering and this is for Charlie can I play import PS2 back up games with this card/swap method? thanks. |

Kingforlife, as you've asked me: yes you can. All you have to do is pay attention to PAL/NTSC issues either by scart cable, patching or convertor.
