If you don't wish to wait, load a hex editor, goto '1fcc00' and replace 'B1 B6 80 7C' with '00 00 00 00' (MODS, if I aint supposed to post such info here, please just delete offending lines, not the whole post, thanks!)

Note: Go find the no-cd patch in the other thread too, that's the one I'm using.

Now go enjoy playing an awesome racing game, on Win2k, and without your 'original' disc!

b.t.w, The other, infamous, 'RestoreLastError' Win2k problem is actualy caused by XP using a different name for a function that is identical in Win2k. The SND fixer tool that's about just changes the name in the EXE to the Win2k version which is 'SetLastError'

Cya!

SKUZZ, thank you very very much!! I did what you showed. But for the rest of you that do not have this working. Here is a walk through.

*reloaded* no/cd (RD2.exe)
XVI32 Hex editor

Open up the RD2.exe in the hex editor.

Then click search and find. Type in RestoreLastError into the text field. click search.

Then Edit>Overwrite String and type in SetLastError then click ok.

Now, STOP, and vary carefully look, you will see that it still shows rror at the end of Error. You want to click on the left in the hex area in the designated box for the firt letter that shouldn't be there. Then type in 00 for each letter that shouldn't be there. DO NOT DELETE THEM!

Now click search>find and click the hex string field. and enter in B1 B6 80 7C

Now replace these with 00 00 00 00

Now save the file as something other than rd2.exe . Then copy it into game dir name it back to rd2.exe after you have renamed the orignal.

Have FUN!!

SKUZZ YOU THE MAN!

This works for XP SP1 and SP2. and win2k. not sure about win98se or winme though.
