How to "deny" READ of a SafeDisk 4 Copy protection....

I have BF2 mounted on a Alcohol 120% virtual drive. I was successfull in "Deny" admin rights to NOT "READ" the mounted BF2 image. This will let the game run with mounted image With out any "no-cd" exe. The only problem is, on reboot, the change to registry doesnt happen. It only works when I make the registry change and play the game before the next reboot. Any one know of a different method to this or what could I be doing differently to make this change? This is a quote of my attempt: Originator unknown...............

"You'll won't be able to make a working CD backup at the moment. Use Safedisk 2/3 datatype to make the image. To get rid of the blacklisting by Safedisk 4 you must do the following:
1. Goto Start -> Run and type regedit.exe
2. Brose to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\HARDWARE\DEVICEMAP\Scsi\Scsi Port 2 (The port number may vary, look for the key that lists a347scsi)
3. Right click on this key and select "Permissions"
4. Select the "Administrators" group
5. Set the Read permissions to "Deny"
6. Click OK and close the Registry Editor"

Thanks for any responses

Did you have Alcohol installed on pc?

Did you "rename" your drivers during the "expert" install of Alcohol?

Did you install Alcohol not using the 'expert" install?

In "Device Manager" (right click My Computer, properties, click on Hardware tab, click on Device Manager) do you have listings under "SCSI and RAID Controllers"? If so what are they?

The "port number may vary", click (open) untill you locate the drive your game/image is on. Then make the deny changes in registry. If you have 4 scsi ports, would they be (2) dvd/cd drives and (2) virtual drives?

The "deny read" changes have to be on the drive your game or image is on.

Make these changes mentioned above and DO NOT REBOOT. Launch the game. If you reboot, then launch the game, the changes you made in registry will go back to before

Maybe I can help you if you answer these questions...................

isnt that just the same trick that was used on securom a long long time ago? hardly 'new'
and registry blocking is easily detected, under 'normal' windows, theres only a few keys that are blocked (typically microsoft 'secret' ones.. to do with activation).. so blocking others is a definate 'red flag', and the safedisc people could act on it in another update...
really not the way to go...

think you're misreading... this is not about blocking file execution, this is about blocking registry keys...

I must be missing something here? I cant see what all the fuss is about concerning BF2? Are you talking about 'Battlefield 2' or Battlefront 2?

If you are talking about Battlefield 2, i have created a Custom BF2 + Special Forces + Armored Fury + Euro Force + latest Update Patches + Mini Image + My Profile, with a custom install menu all on the one DVD.

I install all the games, Update them, replace my Profile (so all my controls and graphics are already set up), mount the mini image into any Alcohol 120 OR Daemon Tools virtual drive and play.

I didnt rename the drives when installing either Alcohol or Daemon, I didnt mess with the registry, no tricks no fuss.

And no BF2 will not work online when using a NoCD crack but it will work fine online when mounting a mini image.
