Sega Smask Pack EMU, need some help...
I got Sega Smash Pack EMU with 500 roms: A-M. It's in a self-bootable Nero Image.
Well, I burned it and it worked. But I wanted to add some of my own roms to it. So I took the working disk and coped all the files off of it into a temp dir. I got the roms and converted them to .BIN files and Added them to the Roms dir. Since I don't know how to make Self-Bootable Disks, I took the raw files and Burned them "on the fly" To a disk, Using CDRWIN. Afterwards, I used a Boot Disk to load the New Disk with my roms and The file system on the disk was Blank. There was no files, no directorys, nothing. Just a blue screen that shows a red marker, and a few options at the top of the screen. I try agan using Nero and still nothing. I've burned about 13 Dead Disks trying diffrient things to get this to work and I'm all out of Ideas. Can anyone help? bommerman555**********com |

Convert the .BIN you created using BIN2BOOT and it will make another .CDI that should be bootable when burned with Disc Juggler.

I think you misunderstand. The Sega Roms are in .SMT or something like that. They have to be converted to .BIN files and put in a dir. called "ROMS." That dir and a few other files, including 1ST_READ.BIN have to be Burned onto a disk.
You see, It's not in a .BIN file, It's a bunch of .BIN files. Thats what I ment by "Raw Files." But when I use a boot disk, it woun't show the Files in the disk. |

Did you copy the rom files to the \rom directory?? That's where the ones in my disc are located. Also, can you read your disc on your computer? If you can't see all the files when the disc is loaded in the CDROM on your computer, it's a bad burn and won't work anyway.
If you want a self-boot disc, you'll have to put the disc & directory structure into an ISO file using mkisofs.exe (use the msinfo value of 0,0 - all other info on using it can be found in Echelon self-boot tutorial). Instead of completing the Echelon self-boot tutorial, just run BIN2BOOT after you've made your DATA.ISO file and it will make a file called IMAGE.CDI. This file should work once burned with Disc Juggler. |

ok here's what i did :-
first find lemec smash pack rom loader. this is far better to look at and it actually works!!!! it replaces some of the files from your original smash pack (echelon loader) and patches others. basically it makes it non-self boot and fixes lba values. ..this means when i added my own roms that actually worked.. and first time )of course you have to use grom.exe to convert your *.smd files to *.bin files and make sure the region of the roms is US, otherwise they will not work. burning should be straight forward with nero. i even used multi-session so i can add more roms at a later date. hope this helps ya
