New DC package!!

Was just at my local video game store and they were carrying the new Dreamcast package for $95, one Dreamcast + NFL 2k1, Worldseries baseball 2k1, and Basketball 2k1. Pretty good deal if you don't have a Dreamcast yet and like sports games!!

I took the plunge last Friday. Unforunately, mine was made in November of 2000 and appears to be one of the "new" ones that won't boot MIL-CDs. I had tried the Utopia BootCD v1.1 and a couple of others with no success. I had no idea there were different versions until stumbling upon DC CopyWorld. I burned one self-booting game and it works fine on my friends old DC, but all I get on mine is the audio CD screen. I even found a modified Utopia boot CDI that was supposedly made for "new" DCs, but even it won't work. I guess I'll be spending a lot of time scouring this forum for tidbits of info that may help.

I also just bought a newer model DC and made many coasters but finally made some self-bootable games from the info in those threads.

Bummer for you... I would still recommend taking it back and getting a pre-november 00 system...

Pawn shops... yardsales... newspapers.. They are all great sources... If you have a big store somewhere, search through them.

I went to Best Buy, and went through about a dozen of them before I found a june 2000....

If you've got a Fry's Electronics near you, they have a mixed bag, but if you can't read the label through the hole in the box, DON'T BUY IT! It's a return that was repackaged incorrectly. Also, if you see a "RETURNED FOR RESALE" label (doesn't actually say that, it's what I call them), DON'T BUY IT! It may be bad and the "EMPLOYEES" (morons) at Fry's just didn't mark it as such, for return to the MFG.

I found a lot of SEPTEMBER and OCTOBER units on my last visit to the Dallas,TX Fry's Electronics, although I only looked at the ones without "returned" labels and where I could read the date through the box.

Thanks! I had actually read both of those threads late last night, but had to go to bed.
I'll have to try again tonight. I've really only had a couple of nights to mess around with it since I got it on Friday. I'm off work the next three days, so I should have it figured out by then, hopefully tonight! It's a good thing CD-Rs are cheap!
