100% realism... NOT!

Hey doomer...

I agree, they act pretty dumb, so it may be discussed if it really is 100% realism, hehe. Maybe the nazis just were pretty dumb under WWII ?? ;o)

Regards...

All other thing one side, if there is one Army I respect, its Germay in the WW days...

I can only imagine what kind of research they were doing when they decided to go against the world...

All moderen weapons and arsenal today is only due to the German tech of the WW days...

Just pretend your self to be in a big well defended ship and you get a report of a possible UBoat....

Strangely, they came to a shamefull defeat...

And worst of all, that just when they made jets and extremely large Uboats and sound homing toredoes...

Anyways, its a long disscusion and I have this strange love with anything WW...

might as well wait for patch 1.3 coming soon now: here is what in it

Hello,
just found this over at the SH3 site - not official, though:

quote:

"NEXT UPDATE TO THE PATCH-FINAL README-

The FINAL ReadMe toPatch 1.3:

The patch will be released in a week by the way...

Silent Hunter III Patch 1.3

This new patch modifies game data and in this cases the saves that are made while in missions will not work properly. We highly recommend before installing this patch that "all the Captains should returned to bases" or to load a previous in base save (after install) in order to avoid eventual problems.

• Now external camera is linked to the U-boat using “,” and “.”
• New order for Chief Engineer - Periscope depth
• Torpedo tube ready message and voice is now active
• View to heading order implemented using key “-“
• Head to view order implemented using key “=”
• Fixes a bug where the oxygen was not replenished using snorkel
• Fixes some bugs to dials in command and sonar room that display wrong information
• A new advance plotting mode is available (thanks to Akifumi ”Jiim” Nojima)
• Fixed a bug to the waypoint plotting system
• The crush depth for all submarines has been corrected
• Submarine damage model has been improved
• Now Liverpool and Firth of Clyde are in the correct position
• T II torpedo range bas been corrected
• Type XXI torpedo loading speed had been corrected
• More radio messages from BdU had been added
• Escorts ASW attack methods have been improved
• Escorts spawning issue was solved. Now the convoys will be better protected.
• Navigation tutorial issue solved: there are no more sudden explosions on boats
• Gramophone issue was solved: it will be available now while the in-game music was switched OFF.
• Side of the detected ships is no longer revealed by radar or sonar
• UZO view by night was improved
• N-Vidia workaround was improved. First time when the user (with N-Vidia) uses UZO the spray bug will appear. If the user uses Ctrl+P that option will be stored in the main.cfg file and will not be necessary to switch off again that particle system (cause the main.cfg will be updated). The Ctrl+P now is linked only with the particle system from the sub so the other particles in the game will not be affected. When you will exit to free camera or any other view the particle system from the sub will be automatically restarted and the player will not have any issues related to it. After this the player can enter/exit UZO station without any other worries about Ctrl+P.
We didn't make this ON by default because there are the users of ATI cards that have no need of this workaround.
The N-Vidia users can also add in the main.cfg in video section, this line:
HideParticlesNearView=Yes;
• Un-checking the event camera in video settings now disables it regardless of the setting in the realism menu. The "no event camera" option in that menu is grayed out to reflect this.

Hi doomer.

I agree with you, the german war machine in the WW days were great! Don't get me wrong, I do NOT like the nazi intetions behind it, but the german technology was outstanding and the weapons of a very high quality. Just compare the tiger tanks against any other allied tank... And of course, the german had subs, which the allied didn't use to an extended degree. Many new inventions saw the light of day because of the german war machine. The autobahn is also a result of the war...

Regards...

You have obviously bought into the German propaganda. Of course German tiger tanks had a very powerful main gun and was heavily armored. The drawbacks to that was the tanks speed, slowed down heavily by the armor. The engine broke down alot due to the performance required to transport the weight around. Heavy need for gasoline due to weight again. Everything about the tank required that it take a long time for the tank to actually be produced.

American tanks had their drawbacks also, mainly their light armor. Many American tanks were not meant to go up directly against heavy armored German tanks. They were mainly meant as infantry support vehicles.

Tank destroyers were meant for fighting the German tanks but the TD's were lightly armored and easily taken out. Nearing the end of the war, Americans began producing more heavily armored tanks to counter the common German tanks out on the line, such as the PIV.

Yes, many new inventions came from the war. Rocket Science, artificial oil, and many other advances in technology.

Also helped America get out of the depression.

Propaganda... Good one... ;o)

Hi Ghost.

Since I didn't live when the seconds world war was raging, I couldn't be influenced by their propaganda ;o) I just stick to the historical facts that, for example, the Tiger Tank was the most successful piece of armor at the time. If you believe these sources are valid, then take a look at:

http://www.historylearningsite.co.uk/tiger_tank.htm

or

http://www.worldwar2aces.com/tiger-tank/

Also, the german MG-42 is stil in use to this day, with some modifications of course, but the design simply was brilliant, this is fact not propaganda! Anyway, I think we should keep this thread open for inputs on Silent Hunter III, as the headline suggests... ;o)

Regards...

I wasn't saying that all you said was wrong, I was just stating points that the tank is not what everyone believes. That is, it's not a fully invincible piece of machinery. I know about the MG42, it is a good weapon.

Ok, back to topic. Now that 1.3 is out, is it more complicated to crack now then 1.2?

Talking Maybe wargames corrupted man's mind ?

In this case hope for super-mega-hyper Starforce protection.
Great weapons, great death ? But remember there is no quicksave, maybe just two checkpoints. And some guys earn a lot of money.

SH3 is a very, very good game and really needs the attention of the crackers so that we could at least patch it to 12/13 to rid us of the bugs.
I believe that you can download a copy of this and buy your key on-line, does anyone know where from? There is no such DL on the UBIsoft site.
