Talking VMU Backup CD v1.2.0 Released

Hello!

Well, I'm back from the grave!... Over a year has passed without doing any development for the mighty Dreamcast!

So I'm posting this thread to let everybody knows that I've just released my new "VMU Backup CD"!

I guess you're asking "and what is it?"... in short, its the greatest VMU save collection ever made! (what a humble definition, uh? )

But its not just +3000 vmu saves for over 300 DC games, because everything is packed with this pretty neat VMU app that I´ve coded specially for this disc, so you can browse all the games, see all the saves and read the description of each save.

Screenshots: http://sourceforge.net/project/scree...group_id=99309

So, go and grab this selfboot CDI (made with Padus DiscJuggler 4.1) and have fun!

Download links: (10 Mb file)

My Web Site: http://www.bucanero.com.ar/descargas...ria_descarga=1

Btw, interface uses: UP & DOWN (digital pad), L & R triggers, A (select), B (cancel) & Y (display credits)

please test this app and post your comments!

greetz, c ya

There's a SourceForge download link too, so I recommend to use & share the SourceForge link, because it has lots of mirrors and it doesnt have any download limit.

Also at SF.net you can find the source code and unscrambled binaries in case someone wants to build a custom CD.

enjoy!

Great work bucanero... If only i could somehow transfer my VMU files to PC with that program and create a custom disc with my save files...

I tried backing up VMU saves with planet web... but most of them ended up having wierd names, and ended up not working...

If you have a coder's cable or a BBA/LAN adapter, you can use VMU Tool (available at sourceforge too) to backup your saves from your VMU to your hard disk.

Exclamation VMU Backup CD v1.1.0 Released!

Greetz everyone!

Just a week after the first release, it's time for a new version of my VMU Backup CD!

Version changes:

+ Fixed the unreadable font issue on TV displays.
+ Added support for the analog pad to scroll in the menus.
+ Added some new games and new saves.
+ Cleaned up a bit the source code.

Again, it's a selfboot DiscJuggler 4.1 CDI image, available to download at SourceForge.net:

http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/vmutool...di.rar?download

For source code & binary files, click here.

Enjoy this release, and post your comments!

c ya!

Here's a new version of my VMU Backup CD, released on 15/May/2005.

Change list:

+ Icon display added: Now you can see the VMU icon for each save.
+ More saves added: About 200 new VMU saves included.
+ No more miss-classified saves: Now you'll find only correct saves inside each game title.

Download links:

Hi Bucanero. Could you change next relase. I think about move all directories (with save) to one dir called for ex. [VMUBCD] like

CD ROOT - VMUBCD/SHENMUE/

etc.

It will be easier to build Dream Inducer CD.

It can be easily done, and I probably do it for the next version. Although if you build a custom disc with many other stuff in the CD, the VMU Backup app could work slower, because the drive has to seek back and forward from the TOC to the VMI/VMS files.

For more info check a similar thread in DCEmulation.com forums, hrb2k3 did a .SBI of my VMU Backup CD and it worked much slower than the original version. (About 2 minutes to scan the Shenmue directory, vs. just seconds in the original version)

Oh. I forgot about it Ya. Most of games/apps or any other scene (or not) things need more time to load on "muliti disc" especially on Dream Inducer :/
btw. Its me - Pavlik

If you want to fix the seeking issue you could just use a sort.txt file and arrange all of the vmu fiiles near the start of the disc. This way you can have the dreaminducer layout without physically moving the files anywhere.

Thumbs up VMU Backup CD v1.3.0 Released

VMU Backup CD v1.3.0 by El Bucanero, released on 11th August 2005

A new version is ready, and this time with a pretty nice surprise.
The VMU CD now implements the VMU emulator SoftVMS by Marcus Comstedt (ported to KallistiOS by DirtySanchez). With the built-in VMU emulator you'll be able to play VMU minigames on your TV without having to transfer the minigames to a visual memory unit.

Changes:
  • VMU emulator SoftVMS implemented
  • Added more games and saves
  • 60 mini games available
  • 350 games listed with over 3200 saves

Download it from my site www.bucanero.com.ar / SourceForge.net (DiscJuggler image, Nero image, binaries & source code available)
