Will burned games always work?

If you go through a 'complete' burning process, does that mean the backup is 100% going to work? I have GTA SanAndreas and I have knack of scratching the disk to death, so to avoid that I want to make a copy. But before I start the whole backup process, I want to know if the burning process is flawless that the game is guaranteed to work w/ a mod.

If the image creation process worked 100% as well as the burning process, then you should have a 100% working backup.

Of course there are other factors to consider, namely the quality of the DVD media you're using and how well your burner can burn discs.

I burned a couple cd's a long time ago(took me ages to rip), and sometimes they work, sometimes they don't. I use Action Replay Max, and I go through the whole no codes-insert disc. When I insert the disc, after 15-20 seconds I'll either get a wierd fan spining really fast then slowing down then going fast again then the game loads, or I'll get a thump and a disc not loaded message. BTW these are cds. I
Is there a certain way you're supposed to insert the cd, a certain time?

Sounds like he's using action replay discs in order to swap. He's not even using the actual swap magic discs to swap. You need to get a modchip installed in your ps2 deck. I doubt you are burning the game wrong but it's more likely that game will not work by swapping discs. Read ultimate info sticky about mod chips or search this forum.

If your making a direct backup (not a rip) you must double swap with a original dvd game that has a TOC larger than the game your trying to load. Its a lot easier to buy a no swap chip and be done with it.

Agreed. I've just put a Duo2 SE in a V7 - much easier than swap-this-then-swap-that

How are you supposed to swap a rip then? And I know it's easier to a get a messiah, but I'ts too expensive+PS3 coming out next year so i'm saving up for that.

Swap a rip like you would a regular cdr game. The problem with booting games with this method is your limited to the TOC (size) of the boot disc. In this case you cannot boot a game with a larger TOC than the AR max.

I forgot to ask this earlier, how can I find out what kind of mod chip I have? The shop I bought it from closed down. I have a feeling it's a cheap swap mod. I opened the PS2, but I don't know if I should see it or if it's on the bottom. I also know that it was installed in 2002 so it ain't very new. The guy at the shop told me all these complicated instructions on cd-rs, dvd-rs, ea games. But that was such a long time ago and I've been doing a lot of work since 2002 which has made me forget how to use the mod properly.
