Teraterm or Hyperterm?? Problems!
Hi.. I have been having problems ripping using serial cable and Teraterm pro. I get varied results. I can always successfully upload the dreamrip file, and also ####t and download, either by using a macro or not. But I always get varied file sizes on the tracks. It always ####ts with track03.iso.gz, then track04.raw.gz and finally track05.iso.gz (NBA 2K1). I haven't been able to get past a few MB with track05, when it will ####t giving me weird text on the screen. I have read this forum up and down. I got ramboost running, i don't have anything but explorer and systray running. My PC specs are athlon 1.0ghz 256mb, plenty of HD space, Win98SE with very little installed. I have also tried Hyperterminal cause i read it is more dependable, but i can't find instructions on how to get it going. I have tried uploading with Hyperterm and it doesn't take. Any suggestions I would appreciate it!

I am having the same exact problem as you. I am able to get the file to download with terra term, but after a while i get garbage and the download doesn't finish.
This happened on both of my computers. On one of my computers I was able to get hyperterminal to upload the file but it went slow. Like it would have taken 30x longer then terra term to upload the file. So I uploaded the file with terra term and then tried to download with hyper terminal. The download with hyper terminal ####ted out slow for me like terra terminal does. But after about 200k when terra terminal would ####t to speed up to about 11.2kbs hyperterminal still kept on crawling along. I then tried hyper term on my other computer and the file uploaded fine just like terra t. At the moment I am at work and waiting to see if it downloaded correctly. When I left today it was about 100 megs into the download. That was better then terra t ever did. Go to XENA's page for the tutorial for hyperterminal. |

iruleyou25, can you tell me how to get it to work with hyper terminal? How do you setup the program? I have setup the correct port settings (com1, 57600, 8, n, 1, hardware)...are you still going to get the ">" like in tera term, because I don't?
I've tried tera term on two computers now and got basically the same results (both Win98SE). Getting ready to install Win95 and see what happens. Anyone else have suggestions? Oh, and could you give me a link to XENA's page that you mentioned. Thanks- |

Go to the link below and there will be a tutorial with color pictures showing you every step. Make sure when you send the file you choose send text and then the dream rip file. You will need to change to *.* to be able to find the file on the hard drive. So far I have found hyperterminal to be working better for me

I had the exact same problem only I wouldn't get as far as you did. I looked all over the internet and I didn't find a thing on this subject, but I found a way to fix it. Right click on my computer and go into your device manager. Then choose ports and choose the comm port you have the DC to PC cable connected to. Then double click it. Then choose the port settings tab, then click on advanced. On the Recieve and Transfer sliders move them all the way to the left. This fixed my little communication problem with my dreamcast. Before I did this it would rip about 400 kb - 4mb if I was lucky and then stop. Now I have had my DC ripping since late yesterday and we are still going strong. E-mail me if this helps.
