Please help. PC-DC serial question.

I am having trouble downloading the data from the GD rom through the serial cable. In Terra terminal I am able to get the download to begin, but for about the first 300k the download goes very slow sending only a couple k a minute. After that the speed finally picks up. After a while it seems to stop for some reason and I get garbage in the terminal window.

I also tried hyper terminal. I was able to get the download to begin but it downloaded very very slow sending only a couple packets every minute. The speed never picked up like terra terminal did

My serial port is sent to N-8-1 56k.

Please help. I am out of ideas. It takes forever to back one of these up. If things keep up this way it will take me a year to get one backup. It seams to me like it is getting CRC errors during the download. I also tried another computer, rambooster, and another game.
