Mine has that problem off and on, but mine seems to be more leaning towards the DC overheating. So I put my DC in front of my air vent and kept a constant flow of 72-73 degrees going into it.

The other option I thought of was to replace the GD-ROM lens/housing or even doing some custom DC modifications, like mounting a 92mm case fan through the lid of the DC.
