Newbie Question

Ok, a friend has asked me to make some backups of his games and honestly, I don't know if I can, it seems to be very confusing. I have a Philips CDRW800 Series, and CloneCD (The newest version) I'm pretty sure I got the PS1 stuff figured out, Just like burning a regular CD cept slightly different settings? But for the PS2 games I'm lost, I've read 3 tutorials, and I still don't get it. I was under the impression that it can be done without a DVD burner, they just have to be ripped, cept the tutorials say that to rip them you need a DVD burner? And what is a modchip, will he need one of those for his system? Honestly I'm lost, I don't even have a system to test the backups on. And I don't want to send him back a bunch of coasters. What am I missing? Any help would be appreciated, even for someone to say give up. Thanks.

CloneCD with sub-channel data ticked on read and RAW-DAOA, Don't repair subchannel data on write should do the trick nicely. It's that simple for CD Gaes.

For DVD ripping, you have a bit of pain to go through and most members of theis Forum who have gone through that pain will expect you to do likewise until you are really stuck. The tutotials are always under refinement and the best turorials are on www.ps2ownz.com and respectable turotials on www.megagames.com.

For DVD copying, your friend will be lucky if you buy a Pioneer AO3 and make DVD-R copies with PrimoDVD.
