Been trouble free for A while - now this

I have been trouble free for a while thanks to qual999, but I have now encountered another problem. I am finding games that do not fit onto a standard dvd-rw.

Does anyone know of a good ISO shrinking program or dvd splitting software so that I can get the game on to one or even two discs

There isn't any software, you have to rip manually if you want it to fit. Which dvd disk are you trying to backup?

Yep rippin is just one of those things that youll sometimes have to do to fit a game on a single disc. Im sure we can help you rip anything if you just give us some info on your game title.

Actually I forgot about acl files if ripping with dvd2xbox. However, you won't have as much control over which files you want to keep and thee is none for the incredibles. Also, out of curiosty, what is the size of the disk?Search the game disk for a movies folder if you can find one. Are there any ".bik", ".wma", ".wmv", or files that look like you can recognize the format of? (sdf, wav, xmv)?

Problem solved

Hi qual999, I have solved the problem but not sure how - Flashfxp somehow managed to create a double sized image of the rip, so have ripped again and works fine.

What is a good HD to use when upgrading.

Thanks for help - back with more problems soon!!!

Well, I have read nothing but good feadback from seagate drives. It depends on your size preference. I would stand clear of that $90 200gb Western Digital drive that has been floating around populr sites. It is that cheap for a reason, they seem to die more often than it should.

Anyways, I have a 160 maxter drive and it has been fine with nor problems. The xbox reads at 5400rpm and is ata-100. Anything higher should be no problem, but I'd advise a bios change to have the fan spin a bit faster if you upgrade.

Popular drives are usually 7200rpm and ata-133, but generate a little more heat. If yo do that fan speed change mentioned above, it will be fine though.

At a guess ..

S-ata ( serial ) - These are the new style drives, and need a modern motherboard, adaptor to work with.

P-ata ( parallel ) - This is the IDE drive we are used to ..

So in answer to your question, yes
