Gameshark won't work with some self boot games? What?
Ok, I would first like to say that I had to repost this because I really didn't like the subject I gave my other post, and some people only have 56k modems, and can't just click every topic to see what it is really about. I would have deleted my other post, but I don't think I can, either that or I just don't know how to. Well thanks for understanding. now for my question.........
Hi, I have backedup games that are self boot. When I go to use gameshark with them (real one, not burned gameshark) some of them will work, others will boot up, and not work, and others won't even boot up. I am guessing the reason this is, is because gameshark is applying the codes to the boot sector, and not the actual game. But then why does the gameshark work on other self boot games? If anyone knows how to fix this, please let me know, thanks. |

Do they work with the originals? Maybe the codes are for a seperate version of the game.
I dunno, the DC scene is dead to almost everyone that doesn't develope homebrewn stuff for it.

Codebreaker can crack games that Action Replay/Gameshark cannot, because it supports workaround codes for protections against these things.
But codebreaker only works with GD-ROMs. |

![]() (note: it only works for codebreaker, not xploder) I know this is an old topic, but in case anyone is still wondering about the question... Gameshark checks the version number in the IP.BIN, so if you have a rip from someone who uses a general IP.BIN for their games, (such as using a Crazy Taxi IP.BIN for all their rips), the version # may be 1.000 for example, but if the original GDROM is 1.001 or something different, it won't work. Sometimes there were even multiple version #'s released by the developer, such as Sonic Adventure. Another reason could be that a lot of the pirated releases were of EU/PAL versions of the games, but you may not realize it. Red Dog (from echelon), for example, was an EU version release, but looks just like the US release. Last edited by Excalibur007; 08-01-2005 at 17:52. |
