yeah, i have managed to find and ip.bin now. but i have a prob now.
when i explore the cd there is one folder and one file:
d:\1stread.bin and
d:\sonic2 (this folder contains all the game files etc)

so do i put ip.bin in the first directory with 1stread.bin (d:\ip.bin) or do i put it in the folder 'sonic2' (d:\sonic2\ip.bin)

thanks for all this
Neither. You follow Echelon instructions. You don't have a copy of IP.BIN on the disc with Echelon's tutorial. It's patched in after you make the data.iso file. Just make sure the IP.BIN is in the selfboot directory (where you're working on the self-boot, not what's going on the disc), and copy the 1st_read.bin to the selfboot directory as well. Burn your audio.raw to the disc, ##### the msinfo (usually 0,11702), and use BINHACK to hack the 1st_read.bin & IP.BIN files. Copy the 1st_read.bin back to the data directory (overwrite existing file). Make your data.iso file using mkisofs, then insert the IP.BIN using IPINS, finally using CDRECORD, burn the data.iso to the disc.

It's worked for me every time except once, and that was apparently a bad hack (Wacky Races).

Good Luck.
