burning 49f020T

I picked up a used xbox, with a naffed tsop ..

The Tsop is a 49F020T

I`m trying to re-flash it in the williem programmer, but am only getting as far as 24%, and stops dead. I`m trying to write an m8 256k image ... any one have any ideas ??

Or does any one know were i can pick up a 29, or 11 pin mod, that allowes the original tsop to be flashed, on board.

Thanks

Hmm, was that programmer recommended to you? Have you heard other people using it? The reason I ask is because the 49F020T doesn't appear as a support chip under windbond.

If other people have used that, then it is possible that the tsop is unrecoverable. Wrong bios or too much heat could make it useless no matter what.

Did you solder those points to make it not write protected? I mean, it probably won't do anything at all if the programmer is plugged directly to all the legs, but you've got nothing to lose.

I can set the jumpers, and have the chip reconised as a winbond w49F020 chip, i didnt purchase the programmer for the x-box tsops, so no loss. I originally picked it up to dump some HMS press screens were i work.

If anyone has a replacment tsop they can pre-program and send me, i`ll be willing to offer a few $$

Well if worse comes worst, you can always buy a chip. But I imagine that is what you are trying to avoid.

i have a chip here, i`d just like to have the option to have a normal tsop with a " Legal " flash code, just in case ...

BTU, yes the alladin mod works ok, i just choose another BT point, so the mod will boot no mater what button is pressed ..

Any ideas on anyone still selling 29 wire mods ??

So, you already have a mod in there? Why blows me down.
Well, you can do what i just did yesterday to my bros xbox (minus the hacked save and + the modchip).

First, make it so you can turn the chip off. A switch on the wire connecting to the d0 will do it if you don't have a way already. Just make sure those points are fully soldered to make the tsop un-write protected, turn on the xbox, switch of the modchip, and run the raincoat bios flasher to flash the onboard bios

Oooh yeah, that’s the stuff! Is there a detailed guide for that procedure anywhere?

Link is what I used. Just remember, evox cannot flash the 49f020T chips. SO yo umust use raincoat flasher. It can be found at xbins. Note though, it comes with no bios, so you must put a 256k (MUST BE 256K!) bios named "bios.bin" in the root of the the program.

You may be right, I know evox doesn't support it, but raincoat and other flashers might. I have read about people hotswapping to do tsop flashes, I just assumed that they did what I said above. Load the chip, take it out (turn it off), and flash with an app.

did you solder both of those points? I assume you have a 1.5 or less version too?
